David Langevin
Biography
David was born August 3, 1959 in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
He received his Masters
Degree in Art Education from McGill University
in Montreal in 1990 and a Graduate
Diploma in Education from McGill in 1984.
He graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts from
the University of Ottawa in 1983 and
an Arts Plastiques degree from
Cegep de Sherbrooke in 1978.
David began drawing and painting before starting school. After
receiving his B.F.A., his restless desire to perfect his skills led him to
continue his studies and research at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts,
the Canadian Conservation Institute and McGill University where he received
his Masters Degree in Art Education. After spending several years
teaching art, David continues to lecture and give workshops on "The Craft
of Painting." He resides in Kamloops, B.C.
David has been painting full time since 1994 and is rapidly gaining recognition
for his dynamic and original landscapes and "treescapes." His
work is admired and appreciated by art lover, collectors, and artists alike,
and this is reflected in his growing success he enjoys as an artist.
The stillness of the wilderness landscape is juxtaposed with the dramatic
play of compositional element, light and color. Contrast is the
underlying theme in all of David's paintings. This talented
draughtsman uses a profound knowledge of materials and techniques combined
with a brilliant sense of design and drama to create striking renditions
of the Canadian wilderness.
